Islamic School of Fine Arts
The Islamic School of Fine Arts and Handcrafts has been constructed during the era of the Ottoman Sultan Abdülhamit II at Tripoli Libya between 1898 and 1901 with the name “Medresetu’l Fünun ve s’Sana i’ll İslamiyye”. During its function of nearly 110 years, the school has encountered some esthetical and structural deformation as well as external interruption.
A proposal was submitted comprising to find solutions against the damage inflicted on the historical building, to reinforce the structure, to design reconstruction projects for the historical building and recent annexes, to carry out restoration, restitution and renovation works within 3.000 m2 of area related to the old building, to demolish useless annexes added later to the building, and to construct a new building of 7.400 m2 meeting the desired function and use in response to requests and requirements of the administration. Subsequent to the meetings and price negotiations, our proposal of 32.138.940 Libyan Dinar has been accepted, and related contract was concluded between the parties on November 27th, 2008. The concluded contract was submitted for the approval of the Libyan Court of Accounts (the Rekaba) on December 15th, 2008 attached with the introduction letter of ODAC administration.
